Located in the redeveloped Tatiara Civic Centre the Walkway Gallery is the peak gallery space for the Upper South East which presents a series of high quality temporary exhibitions, public programs and visual arts events.
Supporting work of local Tatiara (and Limestone Coast) artists and arts organisations, as well as giving visitors the opportunity to engage with important work by non-local significant and established artists. The Walkway Gallery provides a space for people to engage with art at all levels.
Education and public programs, including kid’s art classes and youth initiatives are aligned with the exhibitions program and are a regular feature.
The Tatiara District Council has a small Art and Heritage Collection which includes paintings, textiles, mosaics and sculpture. Artworks are displayed at the Tatiara Civic Centre, the Council’s Chambers and various sites around the region. Council supports a biennial acquisitive Art Prize with a total prize pool of $12,000 open to all Australian artists.
The Walkway Gallery is principally funded by Tatiara District Council and supported by Country Arts SA through the Creative Communities Program.
