About Regional Galleries Association of SA 

 

 

The Regional Galleries Association of SA is an organisation that has been formed to provide advocacy and support to not for profit galleries in South Australia.

 

Each year RGASA provides opportunities for professional development, training and networking with other gallery people. We share information, skills and organise

 

small touring exhibitions.

 

RGASA meets around 5 times a year – usually in Adelaide – and is committed to at least one meeting a year in a regional centre.

 

We also organise a bi-annual forum. This is an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in listening, talking, sharing, learning and thinking about regional galleries.

  

 

Vision:                To be recognised as the peak advocacy body for regional galleries in SA

 

 

 

Mission:              As a united voice, we advance and protect the interests of regional galleries.

 

                           We do this through advocacy, support, and professional development, and with great enthusiasm.

Objects and Aims of the Association:

  • to provide a united voice for regional galleries across the state of South Australia;
  • to become a peak advocacy body for regional galleries operating  in South Australia;
  • to create a network of regional galleries across South Australia;
  • to improve communication between regional galleries and provide practical assistance and advice for its members;
  • to develop a policy for advocacy, funding and sponsorship,  and to make recommendations for the regional galleries sector to governments;
  • to develop strategic partnerships with metropolitan institutions
  • to arrange for skills enhancement / knowledge transfer, professional training and  staff exchanges;
  • to develop a set of standards for accreditation and benchmarking;
  • to assess the needs and assist in the conservation of the collections of art works held by regional galleries;
  • to collect and analyse data on the impact of regional galleries on visual arts education in regional schools;
  • to contribute to the development of South Australia’s art education policy
